Week 6

a surfer man and the beach:)

Hello all,

Not too sure what to share. I went swimming last Saturday! There were surfers and the waves were big and I got a sun tan. The beach is a fifteen minute train ride plus a ten minute walk and the sand is awesome.

This week was mainly on team unity(which we will definitely need on outreach... 20 girls living in confined spaces for long periods of time, sharing one shower and toilet... and that's if there's plumbing and electricity!). Our speaker was Shirley Brownhill, the base leader. Her and her husband started YWAM Perth 25 years ago and it has grown to be the third largest in the world(with about 5 schools running every 3 months while the previous 5 schools are on outreach). They are currently expanding and in November will move down the street to their new building. We have spent a lot of time as a whole base in prayer and worship(especially this week) and God has been corporately convicting and "holifying " us in preparation for this move.

Work duties are the highlight of my day! I get to work with a an Ethiopian man named Amaniel who has shared that he despises working with a loud white girl(last I checked he was joking), Elias from Papua New Guinea who gets my sense of humour, a Malaysian named Ezra who tends to walk in the other direction when I come( in jest I'm sure. He also knows Nikki White from going to Trinity last year!(hi nikki if you're reading)), a few Americans; Levi who lives in Amish-land, Pennsylvania and is a wicked singer, and crazy tall Samuel Jackson who's middle name is Allen(haha. but seriously), and Connor who is married to Felicia who is one of my classmates... lucky Connor will be the only male with us for almost 6 months while we are on outreach, a Finish girl named Anni who is so awesome and has almost white hair, a Canadian named Jeff who hails from Richmond BC(and who's pastor is/was Emile Ferdinands!), two New Zealanders; Dean who has black tight curly hair and wicked glasses, and Luke who is our boss but tends to get distracted by any question we throw at him, three Aussies; one named Nathan who truthfully enjoys me when I have had too much sugar, another named Shawn who is also our boss but gives us jobs like learning plant names(the scientific name because he has studied it in school and is sincerely interested) and feeding worms(seriously!), and Jaden who I recently have begun called Jared simply because... I actually don't know why but I get mixed up each time I try to call his name. and..... Micaela who most of you know I grew up with and came here with me! It really is 2 hours of full time laughter and attempts to work and I love it so much!

Another side note. There's a girl here from Langley BC(her parents just moved to Pentiction though) and her name is Andrea Huisman(well she just got married so it's changed recently). We don't think we're related but if anyone knows anything I don't know... let me know!

Sorry this blog is a little different but I am super happy to have my work duty friends and I wanted you all to meet them. I think I'll post a picture soon of them all just to prove to you that I didn't make them up! :)

With regards to my financial needs, my student loan came in!!! However I am hoping to pay it off before returing home so I am not in debt. If any of you wish to donate, simply google YWAM Perth and at the bottom of the page it says donate/pay. If you click on that, it will guide you through the steps to make a mastercard payment dirrectly to my account. If you have further questions you can email me or the base or even call them and ask. Thank you so much!

Love you,

Stefanie
